Recovery Camp Academy

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

UCAP is supporting the development and launch of the Recovery Camp Academy, an online training program created by the Recovery Camp leadership to share a proven model of psycho-emotional support for those who are working with families affected by war. The course is designed for social workers, volunteers, educators, NGO staff, and community leaders who provide care to displaced persons and families in crisis.

The Recovery Camp methodology has been successfully implemented since 2022, with more than 250 camps for mothers and children conducted across Ukraine. Its impact has been measurable and was recognized in a peer-reviewed study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in March 2025.

The online format of the Academy will make this effective approach accessible to a wider audience, equipping professionals with trauma-informed tools and practical guidance for emotional recovery and resilience.

Initially, three full training cohorts between September 2025 and February 2026 will take place and provide ample experience to improve the format, as needed . The program is expected to train hundreds of professionals in its first year, reaching an estimated 3,000 mothers, children, and families.

In the years ahead, the Recovery Camp Academy will continue to serve as a sustainable national resource, helping hundreds more professionals and providing vital psychosocial support to tens of thousands of Ukrainians.
