Ukrainian Summer Camps in Hungary

LATEST UPDATES:

The 2024 summer day camp focused on supporting 40 children aged 6 to 12 in overcoming psychological and war-related trauma. Teachers underwent a week-long training with experts in trauma-informed play therapy and childhood development. The 8-week program culminated in a crafts exhibition showcasing the children’s work at the city museum.

A separate art-focused camp also brought together 30 children passionate about creative expression. Participants explored watercolor and acrylic techniques on canvas, drawing inspiration from themes such as “zoo” and “botanical garden,” as well as the distinctive styles of renowned Ukrainian primitive artist Maria Primachenko.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The House of Ukrainian Traditions, based in Budapest, organizes summer camps for refugee children who have relocated to Hungary due to the Russian invasion. Building on a partnership established in 2023, UCAP provided additional financial support in May 2024 to fund enriching camp experiences for these children.
