In June 2023 an explosion destroyed the Kakhovka Dam in southern Ukraine leading to another humanitarian, economic and public health disaster in the war zone. Thousands of people needed to evacuate; further restricting access to basic resources and services such as food, water and electricity….and increasing the risks of disease outbreaks from contaminated water.
UCAP is supporting two local hospitals by providing needed enhanced protective equipment along with infection protection kits for 3 months to 420 medical personnel. This will help ensure that hospital staff and families are safe from exposure to water-borne diseases and other contaminants as they continue to survive during so many difficult wartime circumstances.
