The House of Ukrainian Traditions, based in Budapest, organizes summer camps for refugee children who have relocated to Hungary due to the Russian invasion. Building on a partnership established in 2023, UCAP provided additional financial support in May 2024 to fund enriching camp experiences for these children.
These included a summer day camp held on school grounds, focused on helping 40 children aged 6 to 12 overcome psychological and war-related trauma. Teachers received a week of training with experts in trauma-informed play therapy and childhood development. The program ran for 8 weeks and concluded with the children’s crafts exhibition at the city museum. Another camp, attended by 30 children passionate about art, provided an opportunity to work with watercolors and acrylics on canvas, exploring themes such as “zoo,” “botanical garden,” and styles inspired by the renowned Ukrainian primitive artist Maria Primachenko.
