Through a Mother’s Eyes: Oksana

This family participated in a 6-day Recovery Camp designed to help children who face mental health challenges as a result of the war. The program provides children and their mothers with psycho-emotional rehabilitation by mental health professionals and recreational counselors. Children are engaged in play therapy, art therapy, music, games, and yoga. Over 1/3 of children who attend these camps are identified as having symptoms of PTSD and are referred to psychologists for follow-up services.

Thank you to the whole team. You are so cool and stress-resistant I couldn’t stand it. Every child is unique and has their own personality, yet you managed to connect with each of them. This was evident in the hugs and the tears of the children at the moment of farewell.

The camp gave us a chance to rest and take our minds off the war. I also had the opportunity to meet incredible mothers from different cities, and I hope that soon we will become as close as family.

This experience is fantastic and deeply meaningful. For me, it’s more than just a camp—it already feels like a family.” -Oksana, Donetsk, Ukraine
