Through a Mother’s Eyes: Hanna

This family participated in a 6-day Recovery Camp designed to help children who face mental health challenges as a result of the war. The program provides children and their mothers with psycho-emotional rehabilitation by mental health professionals and recreational counselors. Children are engaged in play therapy, art therapy, music, games, and yoga. Over 1/3 of children who attend these camps are identified as having symptoms of PTSD and are referred to psychologists for follow-up services.

Thank you so much, from our whole family, for such a wonderful week of rest, activities for the children, and a chance for mom to relax—even if, with a little one for company, it was “relaxation with an asterisk.”

Our oldest daughter, Svetlana, loved earning smiley faces, swimming in the pool, and, of course, the food. Our youngest was thrilled with the birthday greetings and especially enjoyed Victor lifting him up high.

I loved it all—the chance to step away from everyday life and focus on self-care. The “highlight” of the holiday was the talent show; it’s been a long time since I felt that excited. It was truly a special day.

Thank you to the entire Recovery Camp team for the time you devoted to the children and mothers. This kind of support is so needed right now to help families find psychological relief.

P.S. This need is especially clear upon returning home, where our city has been shelled for the second day in a row… – Hanna
