In partnership with UCAP, the Ukrainian Charity Foundation Children of Heroes supports children who have lost one or both parents due to the war in Ukraine. The organization provides critical resources to help these children and their guardians rebuild their lives, including psychological support, educational assistance, medical care, and humanitarian aid.
Daniil is 12 years old. His family has endured severe hardship since the beginning of the full-scale war. In early March 2022, after another Russian attack, all the windows in the family’s apartment in Mykolaiv were shattered. His mother had to cover them with plastic sheeting and later leave the city with the children. The family is now living in the Mykolaiv region.
Daniil’s father, the family’s main support and protector, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the start of the war. He was killed in the summer, leaving behind deep grief and loss for the whole family.
As part of a New Year support initiative, Daniil received a gift certificate that allowed him to choose something he truly needed. He chose a computer mouse — an important item for both his learning and leisure, as he studies online. For Daniil, this was not just a purchase, but an opportunity to feel cared for, independent, and happy to make his own choice.
Daniil was genuinely happy. This seemingly small gift became a source of support, helping him find the strength to continue learning, grow, and believe that he is not alone in facing his difficulties.
